GeneAmp 9700 Thermal Cycler: precision, reliability and flexibility for your PCR applications
The GeneAmp PCR System 9700 is a thermal cycler designed to meet the needs of laboratories for nucleic acid amplification using the PCR method. Combined with a 0.5 mL sample module, this device can perform up to 60 reactions simultaneously thanks to a 60-well aluminium tray compatible with GeneAmp® 0.5 mL thin-walled tubes with flat caps. The sample module can beinterchanged to adapt the well format or increase the processing capacity, making it a flexible system for different types of protocols.
The system operates in two distinct modes: Sample mode and Block mode. In Sample mode, the instrument calculates the actual temperature of the sample, taking into account the reaction volume, which allows for faster temperature ramp-up and ramp-down while limiting overheating of the contents. In "Block" mode, the block temperature is simply adjusted to the programmed value, regardless of the volume or nature of the sample, allowing for a more straightforward approach. These two options make the device compatible with a wide range of standard and specific PCR protocols.
The sample block is equipped with a sliding heating cover that exerts uniform pressure on the tubes to ensure perfect heat conduction while preventing condensation from forming on top of the tubes, thus guaranteeing the integrity of the reactions. This cover, combined with an integrated Peltier unit, allows a temperature range of 4 to 99.9°C to be achieved, with an accuracy of ±0.25°C between 35 and 100°C. The temperature rise/fall rate is 1.5°C per second, with a temperature uniformity of ±0.5°C measured 30 seconds after stabilisation.
Compliant with CE and FCC standards, the GeneAmp 9700 is intended for use in a controlled environment (ambient temperature of 15 to 30°C and relative humidity of 20 to 80%). Precautions must be taken with regard to the electrical environment, earthing and humidity to ensure proper operation.
Maintenance is simple and limited to periodic cleaning of the block and heating cover. A temperature verification kit is available to perform calibration and thermal uniformity tests according to recommended diagnostic protocols. These internal diagnostics ensure long-term system reliability and prevent thermal drift.
This thermocycler is therefore a robust and accurate tool, well suited to demanding PCR applications, while offering the modularity necessary to adapt to different experimental configurations.
