The HandyRef-K from Nidek is an all-in-one ophthalmic measuring device combining an automatic refractometer and a keratometer in a portable format. It is designed for eye care professionals who want a precise, lightweight and easy-to-use instrument for use in the clinic or on the go. Thanks to Pupil Zone Imaging technology, the HandyRef-K analyses a large pupil area up to 4 mm in diameter, enabling greater accuracy and reproducibility of results, particularly in patients with small pupils (from 2 mm). It also features SynchroScan technology, which automatically triggers measurement capture when alignment is optimal, ensuring high reliability.

The device offers a variety of intelligent measurement modes to suit a wide range of patients: Auto Shot mode, fast mode for children or unstable patients, special cataract mode and additional measurement mode for uncertain data.

The high-definition 3.5-inch colour LCD screen provides a clear and intuitive interface, consistent with other Nidek instruments. The system can be operated with one hand thanks to its compact and well-balanced design (weighing less than 1 kg), with removable magnetic occluders for easy attachment.

For examinations in a supine position, a supine mode is automatically activated, and automatic axis correction compensates for instrument tilts. The HandyRef-K is also capable of measuring the curvature of rigid contact lenses thanks to its dedicated support, as well as performing retro-illumination observations.

In terms of connectivity, the HandyRef-K offers USB, RS-232C, LAN and WLAN interfaces (depending on the model), enabling fast data transfer to Nidek systems or a computer. It can store up to 100 eyes (50 patients) and includes an examination summary function and a melody function to reassure children.

Finally, a docking station with integrated thermal printer allows immediate printing of results. Numerous accessories are available, including a portable station, several types of carrying cases, and a table stand for added stability.
