IKA HBC 10 control: circulation thermostat with heating bath for optimal temperature control
The HBC 10 control from IKA is a state-of-the-art device for applications requiring precise temperature control. With an extended operating range of -20 to 250 °C, this circulation thermostat is capable of providing uniform heating and precise control in a wide range of scientific and industrial applications. Its high-quality stainless steel bath, with a capacity of 8 to 11 litres, ensures excellent corrosion resistance and compatibility with various heat transfer fluids.
The device is equipped with a colour TFT display for clear viewing of essential parameters such as temperature, pump speed, fill level and safety thresholds. Menu navigation is facilitated by push and rotary buttons that offer intuitive handling, while a multilingual system adapts the interface to different users. Switching between internal and external temperature control is done in a single action, optimising flexibility during experiments.
The HBC 10 control design incorporates an adjustable pressure and suction pump, ensuring a maximum flow rate of 31 litres per minute and a pressure of up to 0.61 bar. This ability to maintain constant circulation promotes efficient heat exchange and uniform heating of samples. An integrated cooling coil also allows the bath temperature to be lowered when external cooling is required.
Safety is a key feature of this thermostat. It includes an adjustable safety circuit, protection against excessive or insufficient liquid levels, and visual and audible warnings when critical thresholds are exceeded. These devices comply with DIN 12876 and are classified in category III (FL), ensuring enhanced protection against hazardous situations.
Thanks to the WiCo wireless controller, the HBC 10 control can be operated remotely from up to 10 metres away, offering increased ease of use, particularly when installed in a closed hood or in restricted areas. In addition, USB and RS 232 interfaces allow connection to a computer for control and documentation via the labworldsoft® software, as well as firmware updates.
The ergonomics of the device are enhanced by a secure front drain valve that allows the bath to be emptied without direct contact with the heat transfer fluid, minimising the risk of burns or splashes. Its compact design, with dimensions of 275 x 456 x 506 mm and a weight of 18.3 kg, makes it easy to integrate into a workbench.
