Büchi B-491: Reliable Heating and Thermal Control for Your Laboratory Applications

With its oval stainless steel tank, the B-491 can hold a volume of 4 liters and heat water- or oil-based media up to 180 °C. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, from standard distillations to sample concentration and drying under controlled conditions. Its key advantage lies in its dual compatibility with both water and oil baths, selectable via a simple unit setting. In water mode, the maximum temperature reaches 95 °C, while in oil mode, it can be raised to 180 °C. This versatility allows optimal adaptation to the specific thermal needs of each protocol.
The integrated graphic display of the B-491 clearly and continuously shows both the actual temperature and the setpoint. This visual control system ensures constant monitoring and helps avoid handling errors. The temperature can be locked at a fixed value to prevent any accidental changes during ongoing processes.
One of the features that sets the B-491 apart is its rapid heat-up time, made possible by a low liquid volume in the tank and a heating power of 1300 W. This fast response time is crucial for laboratories requiring high reactivity. The presence of a wireless cable between the bath and the Rotavapor system allows the tank to be filled or emptied without disconnecting the device, thus simplifying handling.
Designed for daily use, the B-491 also prioritizes safety. In the event of a power outage, the Rotavapor lift system automatically removes the flask from the bath, preventing any risk of sample overheating. For added user protection, an optional transparent safety shield is available to prevent splashes or flask breakage.
Weighing only 4 kg and with compact dimensions (285 x 240 x 300 mm), it easily fits into any workspace, even limited ones. It can also be used as a standalone heating bath, further increasing its flexibility.
