HI-801: The multifunction spirometer for comprehensive respiratory diagnosis
The HI-801 is a high-end spirometer developed by Chest M.I., Inc., designed to provide a comprehensive assessment of lung function. This device incorporates a wide variety of respiratory tests, ranging from tidal volume analysis to more complex parameters such as forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), and maximum ventilatory volume (MVV). It is intended for use by pulmonology professionals and healthcare facilities seeking to improve the early detection and classification of chronic lung diseases such as COPD, asthma, or heart failure.
Its bidirectional Lilly-type pneumotachographic sensor ensures optimal accuracy over a wide flow range of ±14 L/s, with a fine resolution of 0.01 L/s. With a volume detection capacity of up to ±10 L, the HI-801 offers measurement accuracy in line with ATS recommendations: ±3% or 0.05 L, whichever is greater.
The user interface is based on a 10.4-inch (640 x 480) TFT colour display, which allows clear and intuitive visualisation of data. The spirometer is equipped with an integrated 112 mm wide thermal printer, which facilitates immediate printing of reports. Data can be stored on a Compact Flash memory card with a capacity of over 1,000 patients.
In terms of connectivity, the HI-801 offers USB and RS-232C ports and a CF slot, allowing easy integration with computer systems. The optional Spirobank software for Windows provides a comprehensive interface for data analysis, storage and transfer, optimising the efficiency of healthcare professionals.
In addition, the HI-801 is designed with compact dimensions (350 x 290 x 100 mm) and a modest weight of 4.5 kg, making it easy to move and install in hospitals or clinics. It complies with IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 safety and electromagnetic compatibility standards, ensuring safe and reliable use.
In addition to standard tests, the device offers functions such as:
- Respiratory pressure assessment (PEmax, Plmax, etc.)
- Incentive animations for children during FVC tests
- COPD classification according to GOLD (Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease) standards
The HI-801 also stands out for its ability to diagnose and monitor the degree of pulmonary obstruction, providing clinicians with a solid basis for therapeutic decision-making. With its intuitive design, included accessories and extensive features, the HI-801 embodies the perfect combination of technology, ergonomics and clinical accuracy.
