HiPrep™ Adapter – High-throughput processing solution for FastPrep-24™
The HiPrep™ Adapter from MP Biomedicals is a solution designed to meet the growing needs of laboratories for simultaneous processing of multiple biological samples. Compatible with FastPrep-24™ 5G and Classic instruments, this adapter allows up to 48 2 mL Lysing Matrix tubes to be processed per cycle, significantly increasing the efficiency of the mechanical sample lysis process. Thanks to its modular design consisting of three separate parts , the HiPrep Adapter offers increased stability, uniform sample distribution and secure holding during high-speed processing cycles.
The lower base, which holds the first 24 tubes, fits directly into the FastPrep-24™ instrument via a precise alignment system with three notches. Next, the middle piece, equipped with an additional holding tray, is positioned on the base to hold a second set of 24 tubes. Finally, the upper part locks the assembly in place by placing retention arms over the tube caps to ensure perfect stability during agitation. This intelligent mounting system guarantees uniform processing even when the maximum number of tubes is not used, provided that the remaining tubes are distributed evenly.
To secure the adapter correctly in the device, MP Biomedicals recommends using only Ratchet Nut v3.0 (ref. 116005510) or Cam Lock (ref. 116005588) locking systems. These components, sold separately, ensure optimal tightening, preventing loosening during lysis, which could seriously damage the adapter or the instrument. In the event of accidental loosening during a cycle, the operator must immediately stop the process using the emergency stop button and check the threads and locking mechanism.
The HiPrep Adapter is also designed to limit overheating. During repeated use, it is recommended to manually check the temperature of the adapter between each cycle by placing your hand on the body and upper part. If excessive heat is detected, allow the adapter to cool before starting a new cycle. This precaution helps to preserve the integrity of the plastic components and ensure a longer service life for the device.
