Illumina's HiSeq 2500 is a next-generation sequencing system designed for large-scale projects. It combines remarkable speed with unmatched flexibility thanks to its two operating modes: rapid-run and high-output. Capable of producing up to 1 terabase of data per run, it supports a wide range of genomic applications, from exome sequencing to whole genome analysis. With Illumina's proven sequencing by synthesis (SBS) technology, the HiSeq 2500 delivers exceptional data quality for research centres demanding reliability and productivity.

Description

HiSeq 2500: a powerful and adaptable sequencing platform for genomic research

Illumina's HiSeq 2500 is a sequencing platform designed to meet the needs of research laboratories that need to process large volumes of data accurately and quickly. It is the solution of choice for major genomics centres and scientific institutions around the world. This system supports a wide variety of projects, from gene expression analysis to whole genome mapping, while delivering consistent and reliable performance.

One of the major advantages of the HiSeq 2500 is its ability to adapt to different types of analysis thanks to its two distinct operating modes: rapid-run mode and high-output mode. In rapid-run mode, it can perform a complete sequencing in just 7 hours, making it a relevant choice for studies requiring immediate results. In high-output mode, it can process up to 1 terabase of data, corresponding to the simultaneous analysis of multiple human genomes with 30x coverage. This flexibility allows users to optimise their workflow according to sample size and desired read depth.

The system is based on synthesis-based sequencing (SBS) technology, a proven method based on reversible terminators, which ensures base-by-base reading with a low error rate. This technology limits incorporation bias and ensures consistent quality, even in repetitive or homopolymer-rich regions. Over 85% of bases generated by the HiSeq 2500 achieve a Q30 quality score or higher, ensuring high fidelity of results.

The HiSeq 2500 user interface has been designed for ease of use. With HiSeq Control Software (HCS), researchers receive step-by-step guidance for each phase of the process, from experiment preparation to final wash. Quality statistics can be viewed in real time via the software or remotely via the BaseSpace cloud platform. The latter also offers analysis tools and a dedicated App Store for accessing third-party applications.

The HiSeq 2500 is compatible with Nextera and TruSeq kits for library preparation, allowing it to be easily integrated into a variety of workflows, including whole genome sequencing, exome sequencing, transcriptomics andepigenomics. Storage and analysis solutions, such as BaseSpace or IlluminaCompute, enable the implementation of a complete infrastructure without any prior IT requirements.

The HiSeq 2500 is a robust, accurate and highly configurable solution, ideal for large-scale sequencing projects where throughput and quality are essential.
