HulaMixer: Optimised mixing for biological liquids
The HulaMixer™ Sample Mixer is a laboratory instrument designed to ensure homogeneous and reproducible mixing of biological liquids in various types of tubes. Thanks to its rotating platform, it provides effective agitation through movements in the vertical plane, tailored to the specific needs of researchers. This mixer is particularly useful for cell suspensions, solutions containing Dynabeads™ magnetic beads, and for the incubation and culture phases of biological liquids.
The HulaMixer™ offers three types of motion: orbital rotation, reciprocal rotation and vibration. These motions can be used separately or combined in programmed cycles. Orbital rotation provides a smooth circular motion with an adjustable speed of 1 to 100 revolutions per minute (rpm). Reciprocating rotation allows for alternating directions with an adjustable rotation angle from 1° to 90°, also at a speed of 1 to 100 rpm. Finally, the vibration mode generates intensive shaking with low amplitude (1° to 5°), activated during pauses in the reciprocating motion.
Flexible programming and intuitive control
The HulaMixer™ control panel is designed for quick and easy use. It includes selection buttons, adjustment arrows, a timer indicator and status lights. The user can program movement segments with durations ranging from 1 to 250 seconds, or opt for continuous operation. The total operating time can be set from 1 minute to 24 hours.
Programming allows complex cycles to be defined, including combinations of movements with or without pauses. For example, it is possible to configure a sequence of orbital rotation followed by reciprocal rotation with vibration, or reciprocal rotation with a pause. Switching between vertical and horizontal rotation planes is done by holding the Select button for 4 seconds.
The HulaMixer™ is equipped with a stepper motor, allowing the user to manually interrupt the platform's movement without damaging the device. Once released, the platform automatically resumes its programmed movement.
Safety, maintenance and compatibility
Compliant with European and British directives on electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility, the HulaMixer™ is designed for indoor use at an altitude below 2000 metres and in temperatures ranging from 4°C to 40°C. It can be used in closed laboratory rooms, cold rooms or incubators.
Maintenance of the device is simple: just clean it with a damp cloth, without using chemicals. In the event of biological or chemical contamination, specific decontamination procedures must be followed in accordance with the safety data sheets (SDS) for the substances used.
