IceCube™ 14M: Controlled Freezing System for Medical Cryopreservation
The SY-LAB IceCube™ 14M is a bench-top freezer with controlled cooling rate, specifically developed for the safe freezing of sensitive biological material for medical and research purposes. This model is a robust and versatile solution that meets the requirements of modern healthcare facilities, particularly in the fields of cell biology, transfusion, gamete or human tissue preservation. It complies with European CE and RoHS standards and can be supplied with MDR certification for regulated applications.
With a net volume of 35 litres and chamber dimensions of 297 x 317 x 378 mm, the 14M allows the simultaneous processing of a large number of samples, whether straws (up to 4,140 x 0.25 ml or 2,760 x 0.5 ml), cryogenic vials (up to 1,128 vials of 2 ml or 564 vials of 5 ml) or blood bags (up to 16 in metal cassettes). The system operates with liquid nitrogen, supplied in gaseous form via a metal connection, enabling uniform cooling according to predefined profiles.
The device is controlled by a dual computer system: an internal microprocessor executes the freezing programmes, while an external PC or tablet provides a graphical user interface. This allows the creation, editing and storage of freezing protocols, known as "recipes", facilitating the reproducibility and monitoring of cycles. An automatic latent heat detection function optimises the freezing profile in real time.
The 14M has a secure construction with automatic shutdown if the door is opened. It offers continuous data recording, including sample temperature, chamber temperature and nitrogen supply pressure. This level of control and traceability makes it a trusted tool in medical processes requiring the preservation of cell integrity, such as the freezing of stem cells, plasma or therapy samples.
