ICO50 Memmert – CO₂ incubator for biological cultures
The Memmert ICO50 CO₂ incubator is designed to meet the demanding requirements of research laboratories, cell biology institutes and microbiological culture centres. Offering precise control of temperature, humidity and gas concentrations, it ensures constant and reproducible conditions for the growth and maintenance of living cultures. Its 56-litre stainless steel chamber is optimised to minimise heat loss and guarantee perfect homogeneity, even when the door is opened frequently.
Temperature control is achieved by a six-sided heating system, supplemented by door and rear wall heating to prevent condensation. The temperature range of +18°C to +50°C, with an accuracy of 0.1°C, ensures stable maintenance around critical values for cell cultures. The variation in the chamber at 37°C is limited to ±0.3 K, while temporal fluctuations are reduced to ±0.1 K, ensuring exceptional consistency in incubation conditions.
Humidity control is based on a Peltier element that automatically limits the maximum value to approximately 93% RH when the water tray is full. Optional active humidity control allows the range to be precisely adjusted between 40 and 97% RH. The control accuracy is 0.5% RH, enabling the conditions required by the most demanding experimental protocols to be faithfully reproduced.
The ICO50 incorporates an electronic CO₂ control system based on a dual-beam infrared sensor (NDIR) with self-diagnostics and barometric compensation. The adjustment range is from 0 to 20% CO₂ with an accuracy of 0.1% and a time variation of less than ±0.2%. For applications requiring oxygen control, the unit can be configured with O₂ control ranging from 1 to 20%, with an accuracy of 0.1%.
The TwinDISPLAY ControlCOCKPIT control panel offers a clear and intuitive interface with two high-definition colour screens. It allows you to set the temperature, humidity, gas concentrations and incubation time. The SetpointWAIT function ensures that timing only starts once the parameters have been reached, thus guaranteeing reliable results. Programming is easy via the AtmoCONTROL software, which also allows programmes to be managed and transferred via Ethernet or USB.
Safety is ensured by an integrated AutoSAFETY system that continuously monitors for overheating or low temperatures. In the event of a deviation, a visual and audible signal is triggered, and the heating or cooling is automatically adjusted or deactivated. The unit also has a self-diagnostic system and a program backup function in case of power failure.
Its textured stainless steel design, combined with an insulated outer door and a glass inner door with a sampling port, provides excellent thermal insulation while allowing easy observation of the contents.
