IF160 from Memmert – Precision incubator for demanding laboratories
The Memmert IF160 incubator is an essential piece of equipment for laboratories requiring precise and reproducible temperature control. Its temperature range of +20 °C to +80 °C allows incubation to be carried out under optimal conditions, whether in the medical, pharmaceutical, food or scientific research fields. The digital PID control system, combined with a high-definition colour display, offers intuitive and reliable parameter management. The SetpointWAIT function ensures that the process timing only starts when the desired temperature is reached, thus optimising the reproducibility of results.
Designed to ensure even heat distribution, the IF160 uses a silent turbine ventilation system that can be adjusted in 10% increments. Preheated fresh air is introduced via an electronic valve, ensuring controlled renewal and preventing temperature fluctuations. The Pt100 temperature sensor, compliant with DIN class A, ensures remarkable measurement accuracy, with a display accuracy of 0.1 °C. The user can calibrate the device to three temperature values of their choice for even finer control of the experimental conditions.
The internal stainless steel construction is reinforced by a structured embossing that incorporates a heating system protected on four sides. This design not only ensures even heat distribution, but also makes cleaning easy, which is essential for preventing cross-contamination. The internal volume of 161 litres can accommodate up to 8 shelf levels, with a maximum load of 210 kg, or 20 kg per shelf. The incubator is equipped with two electropolished stainless steel shelves, and additional shelves can be added as an option.
The fully insulated outer door, fitted with a two-point locking system, ensures excellent thermal insulation. An inner glass door allows the contents of the chamber to be viewed without disturbing the internal atmosphere. The unit is protected by a double safety system: an adjustable electronic temperature limiter and a mechanical overheating limiter (TB), in accordance with DIN 12880, which cuts off the heating approximately 20°C above the set temperature.
For data management and monitoring of experimental conditions, the IF160 has a built-in memory that retains programmes in the event of a power failure. It is compatible with AtmoCONTROL software, which allows data to be read, managed and organised via an Ethernet interface. A USB stick containing the software is available as an accessory. The unit is also equipped with a self-diagnostic system for quick identification of faults.
In terms of installation, the IF160 is designed to operate in environments with an ambient temperature between +5°C and +40°C, with a maximum relative humidity of 80% without condensation. It can be used at altitudes of up to 2,000 m. Its robust design and textured stainless steel finish ensure a long service life and low maintenance, while complying with the most stringent safety and performance standards.
