Philips IntelliVue X3: a Compact Patient Monitor for Seamless Continuity of Care
The Philips IntelliVue X3 is a portable medical device for physiological monitoring of hospitalised patients, both in care units and during internal transport. Its lightweight (1.4 kg including handle) and compact (just 25 cm wide) design makes it easy to handle and attach to beds, rails or IV stands, with several rotating mounting options. Its chemical-resistant housing and screen protected by Corning® Gorilla® antimicrobial glass enhance its durability and resistance to repeated cleaning.
A true dual-purpose tool, the X3 functions both as a measurement module for IntelliVue (MP/MX) monitors and as a stand-alone transport monitor. When disconnected from a host monitor, it automatically takes over without interrupting measurements or requiring cable changes. Upon reconnection, it reintegrates the data into the centralised system, ensuring seamless continuity of patient records.
The IntelliVue X3 offers simultaneous monitoring of multiple vital signs: 3- to 10-lead ECG (including 12 leads in EASI, Hexad or standard mode), respiratory rate, oxygen saturation (SpO₂ via Philips FAST, Nellcor OxiMax or Masimo rainbow SET), non-invasive blood pressure, two invasive pressures, body temperature and capnography (mainstream, sidestream or microstream depending on extension). It supports adult, paediatric and neonatal profiles.
Its user interface features a 6.1-inch multi-touch screen with simplified menus, customisable displays and smooth swipe navigation. Up to five real-time waveforms can be displayed simultaneously. The screen orientation automatically adjusts to vertical or horizontal position.
For critical care, the X3 features a multi-lead arrhythmia analysis module, ST segment measurement, QT/QTc, and Pulse Pressure Variation (PPV) for ventilated patients. It also incorporates the Integrated Lung Index (ILI) to assess ventilatory status. The device stores up to 48 hours of trends, which can be viewed in graph or table form.
In terms of power supply, it runs on an internal rechargeable battery (>5 hours of battery life) or via an external power base (IntelliVue dock or M8023A power supply). An optional battery extension allows for up to 15 hours of battery life. It is also compatible with wired (LAN) or Wi-Fi (2.4/5 GHz) networks and can be integrated into the Philips Clinical Network.
Thanks to its compatibility with central stations and remote printing options (XDS), the IntelliVue X3 is a complete mobile solution for the most demanding hospital environments. It guarantees reliable, smooth and uninterrupted monitoring, while supporting the standardisation of equipment and procedures within the facility.
