Ion OneTouch™ 2 System: efficient and reproducible template preparation
The Ion OneTouch™ 2 System is designed to automate key steps in template preparation for Ion Proton™ and Ion PGM™ solid-state sequencing systems. Thanks to its modular design, it combines two separate components: the Ion OneTouch™ 2 instrument and the Ion OneTouch™ ES enrichment unit. Together, they ensure a reproducible and rapid process with minimal manual handling. The system enables the creation of millions of micro-reactors where clonal amplification takes place, facilitated by an integrated thermal cycler, a reaction filter, and an integrated centrifuge for the recovery of Ion Sphere™ particles.
The ES module uses proven magnetic bead technology to automatically isolate templated particles, ready for loading onto a sequencing chip. The entire process, from library addition to loading the enriched sample onto the chip, is designed to reduce handling time and speed up turnaround times. With just a few minutes of human intervention, the system can generate samples ready for sequencing in a single day.
This system is particularly appreciated for its compatibility with all Ion sequencing chips (314™, 316™, 318™, PI™, PII™), as well as its ability to process multiplexed libraries containing up to 384 barcodes. It is equally suited to genomics and transcriptomics applications, including fragmented or paired-end genomic DNA, amplicons, and libraries derived from RNA (cDNA).
