JS-24.38 oscillating cup rotor

The Beckman Coulter JS-24.38 rotor is an oscillating cup rotor designed for use with Avanti J series centrifuges. Capable of reaching a maximum speed of 24,000 rpm, it offers a centrifugation capacity of up to 231 mL thanks to its six titanium cups. Ideal for subcellular particle and virus separations in density gradients, it guarantees optimal performance with a wide variety of tubes, including Quick-Seal, Ultra-Clear and polypropylene models.

Description

JS-24.38 rotor: versatile performance for density gradient separations

The JS-24.38 is an oscillating cup rotor designed by Beckman Coulter to meet the needs of the most demanding research and analysis laboratories. It is part of the range of rotors compatible with the high-performance Avanti J series centrifuges, including the Avanti JXN-30, J-30I, JXN-26 and J-26 XP models. Featuring a corrosion-resistant anodised aluminium body and polyurethane-coated titanium buckets, it combines robustness, reliability and compatibility with a wide range of tubes.

With a maximum capacity of 231 mL distributed over six cups, the JS-24.38 is particularly suitable for complex separations such as virus isolation, subcellular component isolation, or density gradient analysis, especially using caesium chloride (CsCl). Its relative centrifugal force (RCF) reaches 103,900 × g at a maximum speed of 24,000 rpm, enabling fast and efficient separation of particles according to their density. The oscillating bowl design ensures parallel orientation to the centrifugal force, which is essential for gradient homogeneity and intact sample recovery.

The JS-24.38 accepts different tube formats, up to 38.5 mL per tube, with various lengths and types (open-top, Quick-Seal, conical). Certified Free and sterile tubes guarantee the absence of endotoxins, DNA and RNase, ensuring a safe environment for sensitive applications. In addition, the g-Max flotation system used with Quick-Seal tubes maintains high g-forces even with short tubes.

The rotor is easy to use thanks to several safety features: rotor type detection, controlled acceleration speed to prevent the cups from unlocking, mandatory load balancing and systematic lubrication of threads and O-rings. Maintenance is simplified by the option of cleaning with the specific Beckman Coulter kit and compatibility with sterilisation procedures, including autoclaving at 121°C for one hour.

The materials used in the rotor and its accessories offer excellent chemical resistance, allowing the use of many solutions without risk of corrosion or degradation. Precautions for use, particularly when handling toxic or pathogenic liquids, are clearly described in the documentation, ensuring safe use in the laboratory.

The JS-24.38 rotor is an indispensable tool for laboratories requiring a precise, reliable centrifugation solution that is compatible with high-performance tubes. Its robust engineering, high capacity, flexibility of use and numerous safety and maintenance options make it a first-class choice for biological, virological and analytical protocols.
