Kedee KD-BL tissue embedding station: thermal performance and flexibility for high-precision embedding
The KD-BL embedding station from Kedee is designed to ensure a paraffin embedding process that is precise, safe and adaptable to the needs of modern laboratories. Thanks to its fully computer-programmable control system , users can schedule the system to switch on and off automatically at any time of the week. This automation not only saves significant time but also improves energy management by avoiding unnecessary operation outside working hours.
At the heart of the KD-BL is state-of-the-art thermal regulation. Temperature control is managed by high-quality microprocessors manufactured in the United States, ensuring long-term reliability. The temperature of each heated zone is displayed using colour-changing LEDs, making it easy to quickly read the operating status of each component. This visual system contributes to better process monitoring and reduces human error.
The device is equipped with five independent heating zones: the paraffin chamber, the paraffin dispenser, the left and right thermal storage compartments, and the heating plate (working area). Each element is controlled separately, which prevents thermal interference and ensures temperature uniformity throughout the system. This independent architecture is a major advantage for coating accuracy, especially when multiple samples need to be processed simultaneously.
A flexible heating mechanism completes the package, overcoming the disadvantages of traditional technologies that can cause significant temperature deviations. The system allows for rapid temperature rise, precise control and double protection against overheating, ensuring reliable and safe operation while limiting energy consumption.
The KD-BL also features automatic memory and restore functions : each time the unit is started, all pre-set temperatures are automatically recalled by the system, simplifying repetitive procedures and reducing the risk of setting errors.
Ergonomics have not been overlooked. The modular configuration separates the cryo module from the coating module, offering greater flexibility in layout depending on the constraints of the workspace. The large granite work surface makes it easy to clean up paraffin residues. The heated wells for tongs and the work plate maintained at a constant temperature make embedding more convenient and smooth for the user.
Safety is enhanced by a low-voltage lighting system that is reliable and safe for the user. The temperature of the paraffin dispenser is carefully limited to 70°C, in accordance with international recommendations, to prevent damage to tissue caused by excessive removal of the paraffin block.
