KD-BLII: A modular, accurate and reliable paraffin embedding system
The KD-BLII is a highly sophisticated tissue embedding station designed to offer pathology laboratories a complete, modular and high-performance solution. At the crossroads of cutting-edge thermal technology and intelligent programming, this system meets the growing needs for precision, reliability and working comfort. It combines five independent heating zones — the paraffin chamber, the dispenser, the two thermal storage compartments and the work plate — ensuring optimal and individualised temperature control for each component.
The entire system is computer-controlled with weekly programming that allows automatic scheduling of switch-on and switch-off times. This not only saves time, but also significantly reduces energy consumption and human intervention. Thanks to its American-made temperature detection blocks and LCD display, each step of the embedding process is monitored with high precision, while status icons make it easy to read the current settings.
Thermal efficiency is enhanced by the use of new-generation silicone heating elements , which ensure rapid, uniform and stable temperature rise. The device also features several overheating protection mechanisms, ensuring user safety and equipment longevity. In addition, an internal memory automatically stores the preset temperature data after each start-up, eliminating the need for re-setting after shutdown.
The KD-BLII includes a large-capacity paraffin chamber (4 litres), designed to allow the simultaneous inclusion of a large number of samples. The paraffin dispenser, equipped with an imported solenoid valve, allows fine control of the flow via a touch panel or an optional foot pedal, for smooth and ergonomic distribution management. Low-voltage LED lighting, activated by finger or foot, further improves ergonomics during delicate operations.
For cold handling, the system's cryo module, separate from the main module, offers an adjustable temperature range from +5 to -20°C, with optimal operation around -15°C. Its independent freezing plate is ideal for rapid tissue preparation, especially small samples. Its modular design facilitates maintenance and allows flexible configuration to suit any working environment.
With its heated pincer wells, heated work plate and integrated precision clock, the KD-BLII is a complete station that improves operator comfort, optimises the quality of inclusions and guarantees consistent and safe performance, even after a power failure, thanks to an automatic restart system.
