KD-BM from Kedee: a high-precision, fully programmable tissue embedding module
The KD-BM tissue embedding module from Kedee is designed to meet the rigorous requirements of anatomical pathology laboratories in terms of precision, reliability and safety. This device incorporates state-of-the-art digital control technology for fully automated management of start and stop cycles according to a weekly schedule. Thanks to this fully programmable feature, users can set unattended operating schedules, saving substantial time and reducing energy consumption.
Temperature control is based on high-quality microprocessors manufactured in the United States. These ensure remarkable temperature stability, with an accuracy of ±1%, clearly displayed by LEDs that change colour according to the operating status. This intuitive readability improves operator safety and responsiveness, allowing them to monitor the status of each heating zone in real time.
The KD-BM comprises five independent heating zones: the paraffin chamber, the paraffin dispenser, two thermal storage compartments (left and right), and the work plate. Each of these zones operates independently without mutual interference, ensuring precise and targeted temperature control. This modular design, coupled with flexible heating technology, overcomes the limitations of traditional systems prone to significant temperature variations, ensuring optimal thermal uniformity.
The safety of the device is enhanced by dual overheating protection, making the unit both reliable and energy efficient. In addition, the system automatically stores pre-recorded temperature data, even after shutdown, thanks to its automatic memory and restore functions.
The KD-BM offers remarkable ease of use: the control interface allows paraffin to be dispensed at the touch of a touchpad, with a foot pedal control option. The maximum paraffin heating temperature is calibrated to 70°C, in accordance with international recommendations, to prevent sample alteration due to excessive shrinkage of the paraffin block.
The module also offers a modular configuration thanks to the physical separation of the cryo-embedding module (KD-BL), allowing for better adaptability to the specific workflows of each laboratory. The cryo-module operates at temperatures below or equal to -20°C to ensure fast and efficient sample preparation.
Low-voltage lighting, heated wells for tongs and a large granite work surface complete the package, providing a safe, ergonomic and easy-to-maintain working environment. The granite surface makes it easy to clean up excess paraffin, improving hygiene and the durability of the equipment.
The Kedee KD-BM is a complete, modular and automated solution that combines thermal performance, high safety and ergonomics, designed for laboratories seeking to optimise their embedding processes while ensuring the preservation of tissue samples.
