Kedee KD-BMIV paraffin embedding centre: performance, precision and ergonomics combined
The Kedee KD-BMIV paraffin embedding centre is a state-of-the-art device for histology laboratories, designed to meet the most stringent requirements in terms of precision, ergonomics and safety. This comprehensive, modular system enables centralised, optimised management of tissue embedding, a fundamental process in pathology sample preparation. With its intelligently designed, independently controlled components, it guarantees a smooth, accurate and highly customisable user experience.
At the heart of the KD-BMIV is a PID technology heating system and a gravity-fed paraffin distribution mechanism. This combination ensures fast, uniform and stable heating with temperature control accurate to ±1%. The unit offers a paraffin chamber capacity of 6 litres or more, with a temperature adjustable up to 85°C, allowing continuous availability of paraffin, even under intensive conditions. Paraffin distribution is easily controlled via a touch panel or foot pedal, ensuring comfort, hygiene and precision.
The device features seven separate working areas, all independently controlled: paraffin chamber, paraffin dispenser, left and right thermal compartments, heating plate, small cooling plate and cryo-embedding module. This modular architecture significantly improves workflow efficiency and organisation, while preventing any thermal interference between modules. Configurations can be adapted to left-right or right-left mode thanks to the separate design of the cryogenic module and the inclusion module.
The unit incorporates a low-power OLED display, offering perfect readability from all angles without backlighting, and a magnifying glass that can be rotated in all directions, ideal for the embedding of micro-tissue fragments. User comfort is enhanced by two practical side cutting plates for shaping tissue blocks. A low-voltage, adjustable and dimmable LED lamp ensures optimal illumination of the embedding area, while guaranteeing maximum safety.
The KD-BMIV also offers two operating modes: manual or fully automatic. In manual mode, the user has complete control over operations, while in automatic mode, the system can be programmed to start or stop at any time of the week. All settings are automatically saved when the programme is launched. In addition, all buttons are equipped with luminotrons indicating the operating status in real time.
Finally, the KD-BMIV's cryogenic module uses a new-generation inverter compressor, providing precise control of the freezing temperature. The cryo module can be activated independently or synchronised with the embedding module via a serial connection. The system is equipped with an automatic restart function after a power failure, ensuring continuity of work without loss of data or samples.
