MSE Kestrel: a compact centrifuge combining efficiency, simplicity and safety
The MSE Kestrel centrifuge is designed to meet the needs of modern laboratories involved in in vitro diagnostics and biomedical research. Compact and lightweight (only 5 kg), it fits easily into any work environment without compromising performance. With a maximum speed of 6,000 rpm and a centrifugal force of up to 3,340 x g, it ensures fast and efficient separation of samples, including biological suspensions and systemic fluids.
This model uses a brushless induction motor, ensuring not only a long service life but also quiet operation with no noticeable vibration (noise level limited to 56 dB). Thanks to an electronic microprocessor control system, the user can easily adjust the speed, operating time (from 1 to 60 minutes) and switch between measurement units (rpm and RCF).The digital LCD display provides clear information on the current settings, and distinct audible signals provide immediate feedback on the actions performed.
In terms of safety, the MSE Kestrel is equipped with multiple devices: electromagnetic lid lock, imbalance detection, automatic shut-off in case of forced opening and manual opening in case of failure. The rotor can only operate when the lid is closed, and opening is only permitted after the unit has come to a complete stop, as indicated by the "S" display on the screen.
The robust design with an ABS body and aluminium components ensures good wear resistance. The device complies with the applicable CE standards for in vitro diagnostic medical devices (Directive 98/79/EC).
In addition to being high-performance, the Kestrel is easy to maintain. The components are easy to clean and can be disinfected with suitable products such as Virkon. The rotor is autoclavable up to 124°C at 2.15 bar for 15 minutes. Its small footprint, ease of use and mechanical reliability make it a valuable ally in everyday use in hospital, university and private laboratories.
