Equipped with HEPA H14 filters, an ergonomic design and a quiet, low-consumption DC motor, the KS 12 guarantees a safe, stable and economical working environment. Suitable for biosafety laboratories of levels 1 to 3, it is the solution of choice for applications in research, quality control, pharmacy and clinical settings.

Description

Thermo Scientific Herasafe KS 12 – A benchmark biological safety solution

The Thermo Scientific Herasafe KS 12 biological safety cabinet is a Type II protective device. Specially designed for laboratory environments requiring a reliable barrier against cross-contamination, it is part of a long tradition of innovation and compliance with the most stringent international standards. By incorporating EN 12469 and NSF/ANSI 49 standards, the KS 12 ensures enhanced safety for the operator, the sample and the working environment.

With a useful width of 1.20 metres, the KS 12 model is perfectly suited to the needs of microbiology laboratories, pharmaceutical preparation facilities and hospital units. Its vertical laminar air flow combined with filtered air extraction guarantees a sterile and confined environment. Thanks to the use of certified HEPA H14 filters, the KS 12 offers 99.995% filtration efficiency at the most penetrating particle size (MPPS), protecting users from the most dangerous pathogens.

Its direct current (DC) motor significantly reduces energy consumption and heat emissions in the room. The Night Set-Back mode, which lowers the fan speed when the window is closed, also enables significant energy savings while extending the service life of the internal components.

Ergonomics was at the heart of the Herasafe KS 12's development. The work surface is accessible via a wide 250 mm opening, and the 10° sloping front panel promotes a natural, fatigue-free posture, even during prolonged use. The integrated display at eye level allows all safety parameters to be read immediately, including air speed, operating time, alerts and system status.

The KS 12's customisation options allow it to be adapted to all configurations. It can be mounted on a manual or electric adjustable base , ensuring optimal working comfort in both sitting and standing positions. Numerous options such as gas valves, UV lamps, electrical sockets, or anti-vibration work surfaces can be integrated to meet the specific requirements of each application.

The stainless steel structure and rounded inner edges simplify cleaning and disinfection. The front window opens fully, allowing complete access to the inside of the hood for easy maintenance and filter replacement.

The Herasafe KS 12 is a strategic choice for professionals looking for a Class II safety hood that combines reliability, performance, comfort and energy efficiency. It sets the standard in demanding laboratories where contamination control is a top priority.
