Siemens L13-5 probe: wireless performance for precision ultrasound
The Siemens Infinity L13-5 linear probe is designed to meet the specific needs of healthcare professionals in clinical settings, particularly for point-of-care (POC) applications. As an integral part of the ACUSON Freestyle™ ultrasound system, the L13-5 features Siemens' exclusive ultra-wideband wireless transmission technology, allowing freedom of movement without compromising image quality.
With a frequency of 5 to 13 MHz and a depth of 2 to 6 cm, this transducer is particularly suitable for examinations of superficial structures, vascular, musculoskeletal, paediatric and small organs (thyroid, breast, testicles). Its compact footprint of 25.6 mm x 4 mm ensures excellent manoeuvrability, while its 128 elements guarantee exceptional resolution for B-mode, colour Doppler and amplitude Doppler images.
One of the strengths of the L13-5 is its wireless design. With a secure connection up to 3 metres via ultra-wideband 7.8 GHz radio, it eliminates cumbersome cables that can interfere with sterile procedures or restrict the practitioner's movements. With touch controls integrated directly into the probe (gain, freeze, save, colour activation), the professional can operate the ultrasound scanner without touching the console, optimising workflow.
This probe also includes features such as Pixelformer™pixel-by-pixel image processing, automatic depth-dependent gain compensation, speckle reduction via spatial filters, and fully submersible components for effective disinfection. The removable battery provides up to 90 minutes of continuous operation and can be easily recharged via the ACUSON Freestyle console.
Designed to last, the L13-5 is autoclavable with the STERRAD® 100S system and features an ergonomic design to reduce fatigue during prolonged use. It is also compatible with a needle guidance kit, ideal for ultrasound-guided injection or biopsy procedures.
Whether in the operating theatre, emergency room or intensive care unit, the Siemens L13-5 delivers high-precision imaging in a lightweight, mobile and intuitive format. Its integration into a complete wireless solution makes it the benchmark choice for facilities seeking efficiency, sterility and diagnostic quality.
