LR-2.ST the Versatile from IKA: a modular reactor system for laboratory applications
The LR-2.ST the Versatile from IKA is a laboratory reactor system that has been developed to meet the complex needs of chemistry and research laboratories. Thanks to its modular design, this reactor allows for the optimisation and reproduction of a wide variety of chemical reactions, as well as mixing and homogenisation processes, while offering exceptional flexibility and efficiency. The system is designed for versatile use and can be configured with various accessories such as ULTRA-TURRAX® dispersers, temperature sensors and flow breakers, which can be attached to the open ports on the reactor lid.
One of the major advantages of this reactor is the agitator assembly, which is specially designed to safely transmit high motor torque. This allows the reactor to process high-viscosity samples, up to 70,000 mPas, without any loss of performance. In addition, microprocessor-controlled speed regulation ensures constant speed even under load, thus ensuring reliable and reproducible homogenisation of samples.
The LR-2.ST is also equipped with solvent- and extreme temperature-resistant perfluoroelastomer (FFPM) seals. These seals, which are in direct contact with the sample, ensure optimum sealing and chemical compatibility with a wide range of substances. The system can operate under vacuum down to 25 mbar and in a wide temperature range from -50 °C to +230 °C, making it ideal for a variety of applications, including those requiring extreme conditions.
Safety and ease of use have been carefully integrated into the design of the LR-2.ST. It includes a removable wireless controller (WiCo) that allows remote operation, particularly when placed in a fume hood, providing increased user protection. The telescopic support with a stroke of 390 mm facilitates handling and adjustment of the reactor.
Finally, the robustness and quality of the materials used, such as borosilicate glass, 1.4571 stainless steel, PTFE and FFPM, ensure high durability and compatibility with demanding chemical applications. With a useful volume ranging from 500 ml to 2000 ml (and up to 800 ml with a dispersing tool), this reactor is the perfect tool for precise and controlled experiments in a laboratory environment.
