Shimadzu LC-2060C: analytical performance, intelligent automation and integrated compactness
Shimadzu's LC-2060C high-performance liquid chromatograph is a state-of-the-art instrument for laboratories seeking productivity, precision and automation. Integrated into a compact format only 410 mm wide, it combines all the components necessary for LC analysis: pump, automatic injector, column oven, detectors and centralised control system. Its design allows for optimised bench-top installation with a small footprint without compromising performance.
Thanks to its integrated intelligent automation, the LC-2060C is capable of diagnosing its operating status in real time, correcting anomalies during data acquisition and adopting the appropriate behaviour without user intervention. This not only reduces human error, but also ensures optimal reproducibility, regardless of operator experience levels. This system is designed to self-optimise and operate as smoothly as if it were being operated by an expert.
This model enables high-speed analysis thanks to an extremely fast injection cycle of 14 seconds. It can handle up to 1,536 samples distributed across right and left racks, and its direct access mechanism allows samples to be loaded during ongoing analysis without interruption. This feature facilitates collaborative work between multiple analysts and significantly increases laboratory efficiency.
In terms of detection, the LC-2060C can be equipped with either a wide spectral range UV/Visible detector or a diode array detector (PDA), offering high resolution and unrivalled baseline stability thanks to thermal control of the flow cell and optical components. For complex analyses, it is also compatible with complementary detectors such as a fluorescence detector, a differential refractometer or an ELSD.
The accuracy of the pumping system is ensured by a 10 µL micro-plunger and a low-pressure, four-solvent gradient system. With the optional addition of a tank switching valve, the system can access up to seven solvents, increasing analytical flexibility. In addition, the forced-air column oven provides stable temperature control up to 90°C, which is ideal for analyses requiring high temperatures, such as sugars.
The user interfaces are designed for accessibility: a colour touch screen allows easy operation and maintenance with simple visual instructions. It is also possible to remotely monitor the system status and chromatograms via smart devices such as smartphones or tablets, providing secure and convenient access from outside the laboratory.
The LC-2060C features an automatic shut-off mode after analysis, reducing standby power consumption by more than 95%, contributing to eco-friendly efforts in the laboratory.
