LC25 chromatography oven: precise temperature control for reliable analytical performance
The LC25 chromatography oven from Thermo Fisher Scientific is designed to provide a stable thermal environment for key components of an ion chromatography system, such as an IC20 or DX 500. By maintaining a controlled temperature between 30°C and 45°C, the LC25 promotes reproducibility and reliability of analyses, which are essential criteria in the most demanding laboratory applications.
At the heart of the LC25 is an electrically controlled Rheodyne injector capable of withstanding a maximum pressure of 35 MPa (5000 psi). This injection system, made of PEEK, is optimised for handling small volumes and ensures continuous flow without compromising sample integrity. Depending on the configuration chosen, the LC25 can incorporate an analytical column, a guard column, a detection cell (conductivity or amperometry) and an automatic regenerating suppressor (SRS), all neatly mounted on a dedicated panel.
The LC25 is intuitive to use: the temperature can be easily adjusted from the IC20 control panel or directly via the CD20 or ED40 detectors in a DX 500 system. The position of the injection valve is clearly indicated by the "LOAD" and "INJECT" LEDs, and a viewing window allows visual verification of the suppressor's operation via the flow of hydrogen bubbles.
The furnace also has safety devices such as a leak sensor, which can detect any liquid leaks and trigger an alarm to the associated control units. At the rear of the LC25, the liquid and electrical connections are easily accessible, and a specific drain is provided for any spills.
In terms of maintenance, the LC25 has been designed to simplify routine operations. Sampling loop filling procedures can be carried out manually via a Luer connector or automatically from a sampler. The internal design allows quick access to critical components, and the replacement of parts such as fuses or tube connectors is facilitated by clear documentation.
With its compact dimensions and low noise level (less than 54 dB), the LC25 fits easily into any laboratory without disrupting the working environment. Its compatibility with various detectors and its thermal regulation capabilities make it a robust choice for ion chromatography requiring precision and stability.
