LightCycler® 2.0: a system for fast and reliable real-time PCR
The LightCycler® 2.0 from Roche is a real-time PCR instrument designed to meet the most stringent requirements of molecular biology laboratories. Using air circulation temperature control technology, it enables rapid temperature ramps and precise temperature control. This system not only optimises amplification speed, but also ensures exemplary thermal homogeneity within the thermal chamber.
With a capacity of 32 samples per cycle, the LightCycler® 2.0 is compatible with reaction volumes of 20 or 100 µL. It uses glass capillaries with a high surface-to-volume ratio, ensuring rapid heat transfer. This unique architecture allows 40 PCR cycles to be performed in less than an hour with remarkable reliability.
Real-time detection is based on a six-channel optical system with blue LED excitation and precise interference filters covering a wide emission spectrum. Each channel allows the analysis of a specific fluorophore, enabling multiplexed protocols including the detection of multiple targets simultaneously. The integrated photometer , combined with fast acquisition (less than 6 seconds for 32 capillaries), guarantees highly accurate results.
