Nikon LV100POL Polarising Microscope – Optical excellence and versatility for the most demanding applications
The Nikon LV100POL combines cutting-edge optical performance, robust mechanical engineering and great flexibility of use. Designed to meet the needs of scientists and materials professionals, it enables precise observation of the anisotropic optical properties of samples through cross-polarisation, which is essential in disciplines such as mineralogy, petrography, metallography and materials science research. This microscope uses Nikon's exclusive CFI60 optical system, renowned for its ability to combine a long working distance with a high numerical aperture, delivering sharp, aberration-free images at any magnification.
The LV100POL incorporates a high-precision graduated circular rotary stage supported by steel cross roller guides. This design ensures twice the stability of conventional models, enabling smooth rotation with precise stops every 45°, which is essential for optical angle measurements. The objective is facilitated by a centred quintuple revolver with DIN slots for compensators, making it possible to use multiple objectives (up to 5, from 4x to 100x) and to integrate various compensators such as quartz wedge, Senarmont or Berek.
Lighting is provided by a 50W halogen lamp, optimised to offer a higher light intensity than a 100W lamp, while consuming less energy and generating less heat. This reduces focus drift due to thermal effects. The LV100POL offers both downlight and episcopic observation thanks to the LV-UEPI universal illuminator (optional), facilitating the transition between the two types of lighting according to analytical requirements. In addition, a fly-eye lens improves the uniformity of illumination in transmitted light, ensuring homogeneous brightness across the entire field of view, which is particularly useful for digital imaging.
The tube body includes an integrated Bertrand lens, adjustable in position and focus, allowing conoscopic and orthoscopic observation. The integrated analyser rotates 360° with a minimum angle reading of 0.1°, offering high precision in birefringence measurements. The microscope also accepts various accessories for digital imaging (camera heads, adapters, control units), facilitating image capture, analysis and sharing.
The LV100POL is also environmentally friendly thanks to its eco-glass objectives, which are free of harmful substances such as lead and arsenic. Its compact size allows for easy integration into a workstation, while maintaining optimal ergonomics for extended use in the laboratory.
