Philips M2601B transmitter: A complete solution for medical telemetry
The Philips M2601B represents a significant advance in medical telemetry, integrating state-of-the-art technology in a compact, lightweight format tailored to the clinical needs of modern healthcare facilities. Designed for intermediate care environments, it provides accurate and reliable monitoring of vital physiological parameters, including electrocardiogram (ECG) and blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂), in adult and paediatric patients.
The main innovation of the M2601B is its ability to support both Standard and EASI ECG monitoring modes with a single device. This allows clinicians to easily switch between modes by simply changing the position of the ECG cable, without the need for specific equipment for each mode. The device incorporates arrhythmia analysis and ST segment monitoring features via the ST/AR algorithm, ensuring rapid alerting when critical cardiac events are detected.
For SpO₂ measurement, the transmitter uses the FAST (Fourier Artifact Suppression Technology) algorithm, which improves accuracy by reducing interference from movement and poor perfusion conditions. This measurement can be performed in continuous or Spot Check mode, depending on clinical needs and patient condition.
The transmitter features several visual and audible indicators, including an EASI indicator, battery charge indicators, electrode connection quality indicators, and a check button that provides instant information on the status of the device. It also offers configurable audible alerts and audible pulse indication during spot check SpO₂ measurements.
Thanks to its ergonomic design, the M2601B is comfortable for patients to wear and can be placed in a transparent pouch with secure fasteners, making it easy to use on the move, including in the shower (for up to 10 minutes). In addition, it is water-resistant in specific clinical conditions, further enhancing its reliability in hospital settings.
The transmitter is powered by two AA alkaline batteries, ensuring sufficient battery life for continuous monitoring. A battery indicator helps to manage optimal battery use. The device automatically turns off after 10 minutes of disconnection from the electrodes if the Auto Shutoff function is enabled.
The M2601B is fully compatible with Philips Telemetry and IntelliVue Information Center systems and can operate simultaneously with older M2601A transmitters. It complies with international medical safety standards, including IEC 60601-1, and offers protection against the effects of defibrillation.
The M2601B offers a versatile and secure solution for remote medical monitoring, combining advanced technology, ergonomics, ease of use and full integration into existing hospital infrastructures.
