Magnetic Stirrer SB161-3

The Stuart SB161-3 is a three-position magnetic stirrer designed for laboratory applications requiring simultaneous stirring of multiple samples. With three independent stirring zones, it allows precise speed control for each position. Compact, robust and reliable, it is ideal for research laboratories, biological and chemical analysis, and industrial environments. Easy to use and safe, it features indicator lights for each stirring position and ensures even distribution of agitation, even at high speeds.

Description

SB161-3 3-position magnetic stirrer: performance, safety and efficiency combined

The Stuart SB161-3 is a piece of laboratory equipment designed specifically for the simultaneous stirring of several solutions in a controlled environment. It is a magnetic stirrer with three independent positions, which saves considerable time in mixing operations while ensuring optimal homogeneity of the liquids being processed. This device is particularly suitable for chemistry, biology and pharmacology laboratories, as well as industrial research laboratories, where reproducibility and reliability are essential criteria.

The SB161-3 offers three separate stirring zones, each equipped with an independent motor for individual speed adjustment. Each stirring position is controlled by a rotary knob numbered from 1 to 9, corresponding to increasing speeds, allowing precise adjustment according to the type of liquid and viscosity level. This independent control also allows several experiments to be carried out simultaneously under different conditions, making this device extremely versatile.

Its compact and robust design incorporates a sturdy metal frame and a top plate designed to withstand the thermal and chemical stresses commonly encountered in laboratories. Although this model does not have a heating function (reserved for the SB162-3 model), its stirring system is optimised to ensure maximum efficiency with minimum noise and vibration.

In terms of safety, the SB161-3 is designed to minimise the risks associated with handling liquids in the laboratory. It has indicator lights that show when an area is in operation, thus preventing any hazardous handling during agitation. The recommendations for use emphasise the importance of gradually increasing the speed, especially for viscous liquids, in order to prevent splashing or breakage of glassware.

The SB161-3 is mains powered, with a standard 230 V, 50 Hz power supply, and is equipped with an IEC plug. A stand rod can also be attached to the rear of the unit using a bracket provided to hold additional devices such as probes, sensors or glassware.

Maintenance of the device is simple. Simply unplug it and allow it to cool before cleaning the top surface with a damp cloth and mild detergent. The internal components require no maintenance and are not user-replaceable. In the event of a malfunction, Sartorius technical support is available to carry out repairs.

Thanks to its intuitive design, high-quality components and reliable performance, the SB161-3 is an essential tool for laboratories requiring multiple, precise and safe stirring.
