DynaMag™-15: Flexibility and Efficiency for Magnetic Separation in 15 mL Tubes
The DynaMag™-15 from Thermo Fisher Scientific is a magnetic rack designed for the simple and rapid separation of Dynabeads™ magnetic beads in standard 15 mL tubes. This device is intended for use in biomedical or molecular biology research laboratories, where precision, speed, and protocol reproducibility are essential. The DynaMag™-15 allows for the simultaneous handling of up to four tubes, with a working volume ranging from 4 to 15 mL, making it an ideal solution for medium-sized samples, such as whole blood or other complex matrices.
This magnetic rack stands out with its 360-degree manual rotation design. This rotation facilitates visual control of the separation process and optimizes bead recovery, especially beads that may remain in the tube cap. Once tilted, the device remains in position, offering appreciated stability during handling. For optimal efficiency, it is recommended to gently rock the tubes back and forth while inserted in the rack, in order to concentrate the beads on the tube wall before removing the supernatant.
The DynaMag™-15 uses permanent neodymium magnets, known for their long-lasting magnetic strength. This strong field allows for fast and complete separation, even through viscous fluids. Thanks to this powerful magnetic field, biomolecules bound to Dynabeads™ are quickly drawn to the side of the tube, facilitating washing, elution, or recovery steps.
Designed for laboratory use, the DynaMag™-15 leaves no residual magnetization once the magnetic field is removed, ensuring even bead dispersion during subsequent steps. It is compatible with all Dynabeads™ magnetic beads, regardless of their size or surface functionalization.
Made from durable materials, it is intended for use at room temperature. Cleaning is easy with 70% isopropyl alcohol or a 1% diluted bleach solution, without full immersion or autoclaving. The magnet’s stability is guaranteed over time, provided it is stored in a cool, dry place, away from excessive heat (below 50 °C).
