MaxQ 8000 orbital shaker

The Thermo Scientific MaxQ 8000 is a stackable orbital shaker designed to offer maximum flexibility in high-throughput laboratories. With its brushless motor, integrated HEPA filtration, stainless steel chamber and full digital control, it meets the requirements of the most sensitive cultures. Its removable platform and intuitive interface make it a reliable, ergonomic solution that is perfectly suited to demanding research environments.

Description

MaxQ™ 8000 stackable orbital shaker: maximum performance in a minimal footprint

The Thermo Scientific MaxQ™ 8000 Incubated Orbital Shaker has been designed to meet the growing needs of modern laboratories for efficiency, precision and space optimisation. Its modular design and stackability of up to three units allows you to triple the capacity of a traditional shaker while maintaining a virtually identical footprint. This space saving is accompanied by exceptional mechanical robustness that ensures reliable operation at full speed, even when stacked three high.

Equipped with a 1/3 HP brushless DC motor that runs cool, the MaxQ™ 8000 ensures continuous, maintenance-free operation, ideal for extended cycles. Its dynamic, counterbalanced orbital agitation mechanism allows for stable speeds from 25 to 400 rpm with an accuracy of ±1 rpm. This system is designed to support loads of up to 32 kg, ensuring uniform agitation, optimal oxygenation and nutrient mixing while limiting splashing and foam formation.

The incubation chamber is made of 304 stainless steel with rounded corners and an integrated drain for easy cleaning. Forced laminar airflow through a HEPA filter (95% efficiency at 0.3 µm) ensures even temperature distribution and drastically reduces the risk of cross-contamination. The temperature range is from +10°C to +60°C, with an accuracy of ±0.15°C at 37°C, meeting the needs of the most sensitive eukaryotic and prokaryotic cultures.

The insulated hinged door, fitted with a magnetic seal, provides full front access to the chamber. The sliding platform extends 100%, facilitating sample loading and handling, even with 2 L Erlenmeyer flasks. A panoramic window and xenon light allow cultures to be observed without opening the door, reducing microclimate disturbances.

The control panel includes a backlit LCD screen that simultaneously displays temperature, speed and time settings. The PID control system provides fine regulation, with visual and audible alarms if the programmed thresholds are exceeded. An independent safety sensor monitors for overheating. In the event of a power failure, the non-volatile memory retains the settings and automatically restarts the unit. Remote alarm connections and a standard RS-232 port allow for complete remote monitoring.

With its wide range of compatible platforms and accessories, the MaxQ™ 8000 offers unrivalled flexibility for protein production, yeast culture, fermentation, hybridisation, extraction and DNA production applications. It is a high-end solution designed for demanding laboratories, combining performance, safety and efficiency.
