microflex LT MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer for demanding laboratories
The microflex LT is an entry-level solution in Bruker Daltonics' range of MALDI-TOF mass spectrometers, specially designed for biology, microbiology and functional genomics laboratories. This linear system offers remarkable performance in a compact format, allowing bench-top installation without compromising on the quality of results.
Its architecture is based on Bruker's proven technology, including the microScout™ ion source and a variable frequency nitrogen laser. The microflex LT is optimised for applications such as rapid identification of microorganisms, oligonucleotide quality control and biomarker discovery in clinical proteomics projects.
Fast and reliable identification of microorganisms
The microflex LT integrates seamlessly with the MALDI Biotyper system, enabling the identification of bacteria, yeasts and fungi based on their unique protein fingerprint. A simple sample preparation is all that is needed to obtain a spectrum in a matter of minutes. This spectrum, analysed in real time, reveals a pattern of characteristic peaks unique to each strain, facilitating differentiation even between closely related strains.
This method avoids traditional steps such as Gram staining, oxidase tests or PCR, thanks to a constantly expanding reference library. It enables reliable and rapid identification, tailored to the requirements of clinical and research laboratories.
Quality control and applications in genomics
The microflex LT is also a powerful tool for oligonucleotide quality control and SNP genotyping as part of the GENOLINK™ platform. It enables direct, label-free analysis of synthetic sequences, revealing their exact monoisotopic mass with high accuracy. This capability is essential for genomics projects requiring rigorous sequence validation.
In clinical proteomics, the microflex LT can be integrated into the CLINPROT™ suite for biomarker discovery. Although the LT model is limited to a linear configuration, it nevertheless allows the observation of serum profiles and the detection of markers in the typical mass range of peptides and proteins.
Thanks to its modular design, the microflex LT can be upgraded to meet new analytical challenges. It is compatible with MALDI AnchorChip™ targets, which improve sensitivity up to 100 times compared to conventional media, and with Compass™ software for automated acquisition and in-depth analysis.
