It enables thin, consistent cuts from 0.5 µm to 100 µm with optimal ergonomics. Equipped with multiple safety devices, an intuitive electronic control system and broad compatibility with various types of sample holders and blades, it meets the most demanding requirements in histology and biomedical research.

Description

Thermo Scientific Microm HM 355S rotary microtome: precision, safety and comfort for state-of-the-art laboratories

The Thermo Scientific Microm HM 355S rotary microtome is a high-end universal instrument for cutting paraffin or hard materials. It is designed for demanding laboratories in the biomedical, academic and industrial sectors that require maximum reproducibility and exceptional cutting quality. Thanks to its intelligent motorisation, ergonomic user interface and numerous safety features, it enables very thin sections to be cut while reducing physical effort on the part of the user.

The HM 355S stands out in particular thanks to its electronic control system via a removable side control panel, which allows precise adjustment of the cutting thickness (from 0.5 to 100 µm), the operating mode (continuous, single, multiple, interval) and the cutting speed (up to 450 mm/s). It offers an automatic sample removal function at the end of the cut, which can be deactivated as required to protect both the sample and the blade. The cutting motor ensures fast and constant speed control, guaranteeing optimal results for every type of tissue.

User comfort is also a priority. The waste collection tray incorporates an armrest, reducing fatigue during long working sessions. The manual handwheel has a mechanical and electronic locking system, supplemented by anemergency stop device (manual button and optional foot pedal), ensuring maximum safety during operation. In addition, the handwheel handle is retractable to prevent accidental rotation.

The device accepts a wide variety of sample clamps and slide holders (standard, disposable, macro, etc.), allowing optimal adaptation to different sample formats. Specimens can be oriented along the X and Y axes (up to ±8°) and rotated through 360°, facilitating precise alignment with the slide. A rapid freezing system, stereo microscopes and wide-field magnifying glasses can be integrated as options for cryogenic sections or better visualisation.

The HM 355S has memory functions and a section counter, enabling complete traceability of operations. It is designed for use in a controlled environment and complies with international safety standards.
