MiSeq sequencing system: compact solution for accurate genetic analysis
The Illumina MiSeq is a DNA sequencing system that combines the entire process, from cluster generation to bioinformatic analysis, in a single device. Featuring synthesis sequencing technology, it is based on a reversible terminator process that ensures extremely low error rates and remarkable read fidelity, even in complex regions such as homopolymers.
The MiSeq user interface is simple and intuitive, accessible via a touchscreen. The system includes RFID-identified reagent cartridges, video tutorials, and step-by-step guidance throughout the workflow. Connection to the cloud via BaseSpace™ Sequence Hub enables secure data processing, real-time visualisation, easy sharing and scalable storage. Analysis can also be performed locally using MiSeq Local Run Manager software.
Designed for laboratories requiring a rapid response, the MiSeq delivers results in a matter of hours. Library preparation can be completed in three hours with compatible kits, followed by sequencing in 5.5 hours for short reads. Depending on the kits used, throughput can reach up to 15 Gb of data in a 56-hour run, with quality scores greater than Q30 in more than 70% of cases.
The MiSeq is suitable for a wide range of applications, including targeted resequencing, microbiota studies (16S), RNA expression, cloning and clone quality control. With adjustable read lengths and single or dual read options, it allows the volume of data produced to be tailored to each experimental need.
Its small footprint and moderate weight allow for easy integration into laboratories with limited space. Powered by a high-performance internal computer running Windows 10 LTSC, the MiSeq is a stable, reliable system suitable for everyday use. It is a comprehensive and cost-effective alternative to more traditional methods such as capillary electrophoresis or quantitative PCR.
