NEURO-MS by Neurosoft: A diagnostic stimulator for modern neurology
Neurosoft's NEURO-MS is a monophasic transcranial magnetic stimulator (TMS) designed to meet the highest standards in neurological diagnostics. Used in hospitals, specialised clinics and research laboratories, this device enables non-invasive stimulation of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Thanks to its alternating magnetic field, it easily penetrates body tissue (skin, bone, meninges) to reach the electrically conductive structures of the nervous system, generating an electrical current capable of activating neurons as in conventional electrical stimulation.
The monophasic stimulation of the NEURO-MS is particularly effective in targeting a homogeneous group of neurons, which improves the reproducibility of muscle responses, even in patients with a high motor threshold. It allows the recording of motor evoked potentials (MEPs), the measurement of motor threshold (MT), central motor conduction time (CMCT), cortical silent period (CSP), as well as the study of pre- and post-synaptic GABAergic mechanisms via double or quadruple pulse stimulation protocols.
The NEURO-MS is compatible with EMG systems from many manufacturers, but optimal integration is achieved with Neurosoft systems, particularly thanks to the Neuro-MEP.NET software. The latter offers automated protocols for tests such as short- and long-interval intracortical inhibition (SICI/LICI), intracortical facilitation (ICF), interhemispheric inhibition (IHI), and many others. These tests are essential for diagnosing conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Charcot's disease, stroke, movement disorders, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury.
The device features a multifunctional LCD screen displaying stimulation parameters and system status. The controls are intuitive: an "Arm" button to charge the capacitor, a "Trigger" button to start stimulation, and a dial to adjust the intensity or inter-pulse interval. Coil changes are safe thanks to a dedicated button that deactivates stimulation and discharges the capacitor.
The NEURO-MS is compatible with a range of ergonomic coils suitable for different types of stimulation: ring coil for deep nerves, figure-of-eight coil for focal cortical stimulation, and angled coil for better adaptation to the shape of the skull. These coils are equipped with positioning grids and integrated controls for maximum precision.
The system can be integrated with MRI-based neural navigation platforms, enabling 3D marker-guided stimulation of the patient's brain. This feature significantly improves the accuracy of therapeutic and diagnostic targeting.
