AL-Scan: Advanced Optical Biometer for Precise and Rapid Ocular Measurements with Integrated Formulas and Unique Adaptability
The AL-Scan optical biometer stands out for its incorporation of diverse technologies, utilizing Partial Coherence Interferometry (PCI), the Scheimpflug camera for corneal and anterior chamber depth analysis, and an optional built-in ultrasonic mode for handling white cataracts. This amalgamation of cutting-edge features allows for comprehensive and advanced ocular measurements.
The device excels in contactless acquisition of measurements crucial for intraocular implant calculations. The seamless and continuous measurement of axial length, keratometry, pachymetry, anterior chamber depth, pupillometry, and white-to-white reading occurs within a mere 10 seconds, ensuring optimal comfort conditions for both users and patients.
An indispensable tool in eye care, the AL-Scan employs Placido double target reflection for keratometry, facilitating continuous readings with diameters of 3.3mm and 2.4mm. Equipped with a Scheimpflug camera, it captures sectional images of the anterior segment, enabling precise measurements of corneal thickness and anterior chamber depth.
Navigating from measurements to the editing of intraocular lens power calculation results is made user-friendly through the device's large touchscreen interface. The unique design allows for the integration of an optional mode-A ultrasonic probe and a pachymetry probe, facilitating measurements for diverse patients within a limited space while maintaining a consistent user interface.
The AL-Scan supports the most frequently used intraocular lens power calculation formulas, including Haigis, which factors in the depth of the anterior chamber, and Shammas-PL and Camellin-calossi for patients who have undergone refractive surgery. Integrated formulas encompass SRK, SRK II, SRK/T, Haigis, Holloday, Hoffer Q, Shammas-PL (Post Lasik), and Camellin-calossi.
Adaptable to various practice settings, the AL-Scan integrates a USB drive and network connection, streamlining communication with patient management software for the direct and digital transmission of biometric reports and power calculations. Readings and results can be accessed on the NAVIS-EX platform using specific viewer software, with the AL-Scan viewer offering the capability to recalculate implant power. Additionally, Barrett formulas (Barrett Universal II, Barrett True-K, Barrett Toric Calculator) are accessible on the AL-Scan viewer within the NAVIS-EX platform.
