Optimis Fusion SLT/YAG Laser

Medical Specialties: Ophtalmology

Optimis Fusion is a laser platform combining traditional photodisruptive YAG treatments and SLT photoregeneration therapy. Developed by Quantel Medical, this innovative device offers remarkable efficacy and precision for the treatment of glaucoma and other eye conditions.

Description

Optimis Fusion – Integrated SLT/YAG laser platform

Optimis Fusion is a major advance in laser ophthalmology, combining SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty) and YAG technologies in an integrated and effective platform. Designed by Quantel Medical, this system is based on innovative technology that allows practitioners to manage a wide variety of eye conditions with precision and safety.

The Optimis Fusion is equipped with a dual-mode laser cavity, an ingenious advancement that simplifies the device's design while offering unique versatility. Thanks to this approach, the system generates two distinct wavelengths from a single source, ensuring optimal reliability while minimising bulk. This technology allows for a smooth transition between SLT and YAG modes, providing ophthalmologists with a versatile and high-performance tool.

SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty) is recognised as a first-line treatment for glaucoma management and intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction. Its principle is based on the selective absorption of laser energy by the melanin-rich cells of the trabeculum, stimulating a biological response that improves the drainage function of the eye. Unlike conventional thermal treatments, SLT causes no structural damage to the trabecular meshwork, allowing the procedure to be repeated if necessary.

This technology offers numerous benefits:

  • Alternative to drug treatments: reduces dependence on eye drops
  • No thermal damage: preserves the structures of the eye
  • Non-invasive treatment: avoids the risks associated with more invasive surgery
  • Durability and effectiveness: can be reapplied without adverse side effects

The Optimis Fusion YAG mode is a high-precision photodisruption technology designed for procedures such as capsulotomy and peripheral iridotomy. Thanks to its Gaussian beam profile, it guarantees minimal energy delivery, thus preserving surrounding tissue and avoiding side effects such as lens pitting.

For increased efficiency, the Optimis Fusion features:

  • A two-point targeting beam: ultra-precise targeting
  • Anterior and posterior adjustment: easy adaptation to each procedure
  • Optimised energy delivery: reduced impact on ocular structures

In addition to its technological advances, Optimis Fusion is designed to offer an optimal user experience. Its compact size and integrated platform allow practitioners to easily switch modes without wasting time. The improved optics ensure optimised visualisation of the anterior and posterior segments, facilitating diagnosis and procedures.

Whether for selective trabeculoplasty or precise capsulotomy, the Optimis Fusion is an indispensable tool, offering controlled power, surgical precision and proven reliability for effective and safe treatments.
