Schuett petriturn-E: a precision turntable for Petri dishes
The Schuettpetriturn-E is a specialised laboratory device developed to meet the precision and hygiene requirements of microbiology laboratories. This electric turntable allows for the even distribution of liquids on the agar surfaces contained in Petri dishes, an essential step in ensuring reproducible results in microbial cultures. Thanks to its fully automated operation and contactless interface, the petriturn-E is a modern solution for optimising the seeding process.
Designed in a compact stainless steel housing, the petriturn-E combines robustness, durability and ease of cleaning. Its hygienic design and sensor activation prevent cross-contamination, which is essential in microbiology. The user can activate the tray by simply passing their hand over the sensor, thus avoiding any direct handling. This contactless technology is particularly appreciated in aseptic and sterile environments.
The device accepts Petri dishes with a diameter of up to 100 mm as standard, and up to 150 mm with a specific accessory. The rotation speed is continuously adjustable from 10 to 100 revolutions per minute (rpm), allowing the user to adapt the movement to the viscosity of the liquid or the technique used. In addition, the operating time is also continuously adjustable from 3 seconds to 2 minutes, or in continuous mode depending on the experimental requirements.
The petriturn-E is particularly useful for applications requiring standardisation of seeding methods, such as in antibiotic sensitivity testing, environmental or food cultures, or fundamental microbiology research. It helps to reduce inter-operator variations and saves considerable time in sample preparation.
For added flexibility, an optional foot pedal can be connected to control the device with the foot. This feature is valuable when the user's hands are busy or must remain sterile. Finally, the petriturn-E can be equipped with a stainless steel or glass seeding hook (Drigalski) to ensure perfect distribution of the liquid over the gel surface.
The Schuett petriturn-E is a compact, hygienic and ergonomic precision instrument, perfectly suited to the needs of modern microbiology laboratories. It simplifies and standardises a key step in experimental work, ensuring reliable, reproducible and contamination-free results.
