E-Eye E-SWIN Dry Eye Treatment - Effective and Lasting Relief
The polychromatic pulsed light E-Eye employs the innovative Intense Regulated Pulsed Light (IRPL) technology to administer sequences of uniformly calibrated pulses onto the patient's inactive or obstructed glands. This technology emits a beam of "cold light" that safely and comfortably stimulates and clears the meibomian glands in a minimally invasive manner. In response to this stimulation, the meibomian glands resume their function of secreting lipids and proteins into the tear film, preventing its evaporation.
Suitable for patients with Dry Eye caused by low lipid production due to meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) with high osmolarity, the E-Eye IRPL may not be as effective for those suffering from Dry Eye solely due to aqueous dysfunctions. Each session with the E-Eye IRPL typically lasts between 3 to 5 minutes and is minimally invasive, painless, and entirely harmless to the patient's eyes.
During each session, four flashes are applied to the lower eyelid from the outer to the inner corner using specific power settings. The results of the treatment are immediate and cumulative, providing relief and improvement in symptoms over successive sessions.
In addition to stimulating the Meibomian Glands through intense regulated polychromatic light, the E-Eye IRPL also promotes neurological re-education. The IRPL targets the infraorbital and zygomatic regions, where the parasympathetic nerve passes, releasing neurotransmitters that interact with the glands to stimulate secretion. This process results in the delivery of more lipids to the tear film, preventing its evaporation. As a result, the effect of the treatment is cumulative and long-lasting, persisting for up to 3 years after the initial sequence of treatments.
The Non-Invasive Tear Break-Up Time (NIBUT) of the treated eye and control eye improved compared to the baseline, with only the treated eye showing improvement at each of the four visits. The NIBUT was significantly higher on day 45 compared to baseline in the treated eye (P <0.001), but not in the control eye (P = 0.56). Moreover, the NIBUT was significantly higher in the treated eye compared to the control eye on day 45 (P <0.001).
The E-Eye E-SWIN Dry Eye Treatment system is designed with efficiency and convenience in mind, featuring compact dimensions measuring a maximum of 345 x 320 x 440 mm (Length x Width x Height). Despite its powerful capabilities, this innovative device maintains a manageable weight of 11.5 kg, ensuring ease of transport and placement within medical facilities. Whether utilized in clinics, hospitals, or specialized treatment centers, its compact size and moderate weight facilitate seamless integration into various healthcare environments, providing effective and lasting relief for patients suffering from dry eye syndrome.
