Aloka UST-5413 linear ultrasound probe – For high-precision surface imaging
The Aloka UST-5413 is a linear probe designed for surface ultrasound examinations for medical use in areas such as the neck, mammary glands and other superficial regions of the human body. With a transmission frequency of 4 to 11 MHz, this probe provides excellent resolution of anatomical structures close to the skin surface, while ensuring sufficient penetration for a variety of clinical evaluations. It can be integrated into several compatible ultrasound diagnostic systems, including the SSD-3500, SSD-4000, ProSound 6, ProSound α 6, F37 and F31 models.
Its 38 mm field of view provides adequate coverage for targeted examinations, and its linear design delivers detailed, homogeneous images, which are essential for reliable diagnostic interpretation. It uses the principle of ultrasonic echo to produce real-time images: an electrical signal is converted into a mechanical wave via the transducer, then the waves reflected by the tissue interfaces are converted back into electrical signals interpreted by the ultrasound scanner. This process ensures accurate reproduction of contrasts and anatomical contours.
The ergonomic design of the UST-5413 makes it easy to handle and position accurately. Its head has a front marking that allows the orientation of the image to be identified instantly. The 2-metre cable offers a considerable range of movement, while the secure connector ensures a reliable connection to the imaging system. The unit is designed for safe use in medical environments, with IPX7-rated protection against liquid ingress and compliance with European standards for medical devices.
In terms of hygiene, the UST-5413 is compatible with various disinfection and sterilisation protocols. It can be treated with disinfectants such as Cidex® OPA or sterilised with gas using the STERRAD® method, in accordance with the recommended maximum temperatures (60°C). These features allow for safe reuse in a hospital or clinic setting, provided that strict cleaning instructions are followed, including not immersing the probe completely outside the area specified by its IPX7 rating.
The UST-5413 probe is therefore an essential tool for surface ultrasound examinations requiring high precision, multi-platform compatibility and strict compliance with clinical safety and hygiene standards.
