PTC-100: A thermal cycler designed for performance and reliability
Bio-Rad's PTC-100® is a laboratory thermal cycler designed by a team of engineers and molecular biologists to provide a reliable, accurate and easy-to-use solution for PCR applications.
The integrated Hot Bonnet® heating lid eliminates the need for oil to prevent condensation, ensuring better sample integrity. With its Instant Incubate feature, the PTC-100 can also be used as a constant temperature incubator, expanding its potential uses in the laboratory.
An optimised user interface for programming
The PTC-100 control panel includes directional keys, pause, stop, instant incubation, and validation functions. Users can create custom programmes with temperature steps, thermal ramp-up or ramp-down, repeat loops (Goto), and options such as temperature incrementation, hold time extension, or audible signals.
The internal memory can store up to 99 programmes in 12 folders, with the option of password protection. Programmes can be easily modified, copied, renamed, moved, or deleted using the built-in utilities.
Compatibility and safety for laboratory use
The PTC-100 is compatible with a wide range of tubes and microplates, including 0.2 ml and 0.5 ml tubes, as well as 96-well microplates. It is also possible to use the Slide Griddle™ adapter for in situ protocols on glass slides.
Designed for indoor use, the PTC-100 operates in ambient temperatures ranging from 4 to 32°C, with humidity levels between 10 and 90% without condensation. It is equipped with ventilation systems to prevent overheating and complies with electrical safety and electromagnetic interference standards (FCC, IEC, EN).
Safety warnings are included to prevent the risk of burns, electric shock or radioactive contamination. The thermal block can reach high temperatures, and the heating cover must be properly adjusted to ensure adequate pressure on the samples.
