Freedom EVO 200: A Scalable, Modular Robotic Platform for High-Throughput Laboratories
The Freedom EVO 200 is the most advanced model in Tecan’s Freedom EVO series. Designed to meet the demands of high-throughput laboratories, it features an extended worktable, modular architecture, and integration of multiple robotic arms to automate complex processes with reliability.
With the capacity to integrate up to three robotic arms, the Freedom EVO 200 can combine liquid handling, microplate movement, and multichannel pipetting—enabling complete automation of tasks such as sample preparation, cell culture, library management, compound screening, and nucleic acid extractions.
Pipetting arms are available in 2-, 4-, or 8-channel configurations and can be combined with 96- or 384-channel pipetting heads. Thanks to Tecan's Te-PS (Tecan Positioning System) technology, high-precision positioning is ensured even for high-density microplates (up to 1536 wells), guaranteeing reproducible results and robust reliability.
The system handles a broad range of volumes—from 0.5 µL to over 5 mL—and supports both disposable tips (with or without filters) and washable tips with various solvent- and bio-resistant coatings. It also offers active liquid level detection, pressure monitoring during pipetting, and secure tip ejection to prevent cross-contamination.
The Freedom EVO 200 is compatible with a wide range of accessories and peripherals, including incubators, microplate readers and washers, magnetic and vacuum separation systems, shakers, and more. It can also integrate traceability systems such as PosID™, allowing automatic barcode identification of tubes, plates, or reagents.
Its Freedom EVOware® software provides full system control via an intuitive interface with drag-and-drop programming, pipetting wizards, dynamic process scheduling, and 3D simulation for offline protocol development.
Built for productivity, versatility, and efficiency, the Freedom EVO 200 is a robust solution for demanding research environments, large-scale genomics platforms, and high-throughput biotechnology laboratories.
