Leica RM2265: Precision Serving the Most Demanding Sectioning Needs
In any laboratory, each tissue section and every sample handling step relies on the consistency and reliability of the instruments used. The Leica RM2265 aligns with this principle by offering a comprehensive solution for professionals who demand impeccable precision, regardless of sample type. Designed to meet the specific needs of biomedical laboratories as well as the strict requirements of industrial quality control, this fully motorized microtome ensures optimal comfort while delivering consistent performance.
The Leica RM2265 offers six sectioning modes, including two manual (standard and “rocking” mode) and four motorized (continuous, step, single cut, and program mode). This variety allows users to adapt the device to both the nature of the specimen and their personal preferences. The electronic control system enables precise manipulation of the specimen’s forward and backward movement—even in manual mode, where a simple rocking of the handwheel is detected and translated into advance or retraction movement.
The device’s ergonomic design has been carefully thought out to facilitate daily lab operations: the control panel is intuitive, tiltable, and can be placed on either the left or right side of the instrument. The most frequently used buttons are logically grouped and color-coded for easy identification without taking your eyes off the cutting area. The work area remains clear thanks to concealed clamping mechanisms that do not compromise adjustment capabilities.
User safety is ensured by a one-finger quick-lock system for the handwheel, along with an emergency stop button in case of need during motorized operation. A built-in magnetic waste tray provides a stable and easily removable solution for collecting trimming debris. For high-volume applications, a larger tray is also available.
On the performance side, the Leica RM2265 incorporates a patented force compensation system that allows for ultra-smooth handwheel rotation in manual mode. The precision micrometer delivers thin to thick sectioning, ranging from 0.25 µm to 100 µm in sectioning mode, and up to 600 µm in trimming mode. The programmable vertical positioning of the specimen head ensures excellent repeatability, especially when used with accessories like the Leica LN22 for ultra-low temperature sectioning.
The Leica RM2265 supports a wide range of blades and holders, both disposable and reusable, making it suitable for all types of specimens. All these features, combined with a robust construction and compact design, make it a reliable and precise instrument, perfectly suited to various applications—without compromising on operator comfort or safety.
