Eppendorf 5920 R: power and capacity in a compact format
The Eppendorf 5920 R centrifuge stands out with its high capacity of 4 × 1000 mL, while maintaining a small footprint. It reaches a maximum speed of 13,700 rpm and a centrifugal force of 21,194 × g, enabling fast and efficient sample separation. Thanks to its wide range of compatible rotors, it can handle a variety of containers, including microtubes, conical tubes, vials, microplates, PCR plates and deepwell plates, as well as blood collection systems.
Its powerful motor and automatic rotor detection system guarantee optimum safety and consistent performance. The centrifuge features imbalance detection that interrupts the cycle in the event of imbalance and automatically limits the speed according to the rotor used, ensuring safe operation even at full load.
Temperature control for sensitive applications
The 5920 R has a high-performance cooling system that maintains a stable temperature between -11°C and +40°C. It offers several temperature control modes to suit laboratory requirements. FastTemp mode allows rapid pre-cooling of the rotor and chamber before samples are inserted, ensuring the optimum temperature right from the start of the cycle. FastTemp Pro mode allows the start of temperature control to be programmed automatically at a set time, making it easier to plan experiments. Finally, continuous cooling mode maintains the temperature even when the unit is switched off, with an ECO stop option to save energy.
These functions are essential for temperature-sensitive applications such as the centrifugation of biological, clinical or industrial samples. They ensure optimal preservation of sample properties throughout the process.
Intuitive interface and customisation
The clear digital display and dedicated keys on the Eppendorf 5920 R centrifuge allow for smooth menu navigation and quick parameter configuration. Users can define up to 99 custom programmes, including time, temperature, speed, radius, acceleration and braking ramps, as well as delayed start. Five quick programme keys provide easy access to the most frequently used settings, optimising the daily workflow.
The centrifuge also features a key lock to prevent accidental changes to settings during use. The extended display of target and actual values allows for precise monitoring of each cycle. In addition, a counter for the number of cycles performed by each rotor is integrated, with end-of-life alerts to ensure equipment safety and reliability.
