Fiberlite F13-14x50cy Rotor: Performance and Reliability Under Demanding Conditions
The Fiberlite F13-14x50cy rotor stands out as a benchmark for laboratories and research centers handling large volumes at high speeds on a daily basis. Designed by Thermo Fisher Scientific, this fixed-angle rotor reaches a maximum speed of 13,000 revolutions per minute and a relative centrifugal force of 29,000 × g. These performance levels make it ideally suited for high-efficiency separation applications, particularly in cell biology, microbiology, and biochemistry.
Manufactured from carbon fiber composite materials, it offers a rare balance between lightweight design and mechanical strength. Its net weight of only 7.03 kg significantly reduces the load on drive systems, thereby extending the centrifuge’s service life while also facilitating daily handling. The rotor accommodates up to 14 × 50 mL tubes at a fixed angle of 34°, optimizing layer stratification during centrifugation.
The F13-14x50cy’s compatibility with Thermo Scientific Sorvall RC-6 Plus centrifuges (as well as the Beckman™ RC-5 and J2 series) makes it highly versatile. It integrates easily into existing setups without requiring complex modifications.
This model features ELC (Enhanced Liquid Containment) certification, ensuring increased safety when handling sensitive biological substances. It is also suitable for use in environments processing pathogenic agents up to ACDP Category 3, in compliance with certifications issued by the Centre for Applied Microbiological Research in Porton Down, UK.
In addition to the rotor itself, the Fiberlite F13-14x50cy is compatible with a lid and a maintenance kit for O-rings, which includes five O-rings, three lubricant sachets, and one bottle of FiberClene cleaning solution. These accessories ensure optimal sealing and regular maintenance at no additional cost to the user.
This rotor is compatible with a wide range of disposable tubes (Nunc™, Corning™, BD Falcon™, Millipore™, Nalgene™…) from 10 mL to 50 mL. Specific adapters are available for each tube type, offering flexible use according to experimental needs.
Durable, stable, and built to last, the Fiberlite F13-14x50cy is an essential tool for any facility processing samples at high speed. It combines mechanical performance, operational safety, and seamless integration, meeting the most demanding standards of the biomedical field.
