High-precision ambulatory ECG monitoring with the SEER 1000 from GE Healthcare
The SEER 1000 is a long-term ECG recording device developed by GE Healthcare in collaboration with GETEMED AG. Designed to continuously capture cardiac signals in adult and paediatric patients, including children weighing less than 10 kg, the SEER 1000 stands out for its compact size, ease of use and ability to record up to 7 days of ECG on 2 or 3 channels. Thanks to its lightweight design and ergonomics, the device is particularly suitable for comfortable ambulatory use, allowing patients to maintain their daily activities while benefiting from accurate monitoring.
The device is available in three versions depending on the recording time: 24 hours (blue case), 48 hours (purple) and 7 days (green). Each of these versions offers automatic pacemaker pulse detection without any special configuration, ensuring continuity in recording quality even in patients with pacemakers.
The SEER 1000 is compatible with two software platforms: an iOS mobile app for iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, and a Windows app. These apps enable wireless connection via Bluetooth, facilitating patient preparation, device configuration, signal quality verification and secure data transfer. It is also possible to start a recording manually without using an app, by pressing the "Event" button on the recorder.
Installation is simple and intuitive: just prepare the patient's skin, position the electrodes according to a 2- or 3-channel pattern, connect the ECG cable and insert a battery. The status of the device is indicated by two-colour LEDs and audible signals, ensuring real-time monitoring of the recording quality and proper functioning of the device. Recording can be started automatically if a valid ECG signal is detected for 8 minutes, and events can be marked manually by the patient using the dedicated button.
Once recording is complete, the data is transferred to a PC via a USB cable and can be analysed using MARS Ambulatory or CardioDay software. Security features, including password access management and patient data protection, are built in to meet confidentiality and regulatory compliance requirements.
The SEER 1000 complies with IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-2-47 standards and has an IP43 rating, ensuring protection against splashing water and foreign objects larger than 1 mm, provided that the battery is correctly inserted and the ECG cable is properly connected.
