BioBase AKN-01: Safe and Accessible Kjeldahl Precision
The BioBase AKN-01 semi-automatic Kjeldahl analyzer is a distillation device designed for the accurate measurement of nitrogen or protein content. It is suitable for a wide range of applications including food analysis, agriculture, scientific research, environmental monitoring, tobacco and forage production, and education. Its reliability is based on the Kjeldahl method, a laboratory-standard technique for the quantitative analysis of total nitrogen.
The system supports both solid samples (up to 6 g) and liquid samples (up to 20 mL), with an adjustable distillation time ranging from 0 to 60 minutes. Each sample can be processed within 3 to 6 minutes, ensuring a fast throughput without compromising accuracy. With repeatability ≤0.5%, the AKN-01 delivers consistent results, which is essential for reproducible protocols, particularly in quality control laboratories.
The 7-inch color LCD screen provides excellent user comfort with clear, readable display of experimental parameters. The device offers both manual and automatic operation modes, allowing users to adapt the process to their preferences or to specific procedural requirements. This flexibility is ideal for laboratories handling diverse sample matrices.
In terms of safety, the AKN-01 is equipped with multiple built-in protection features, including alarms for abnormal flow rates, overheating, overpressure, and critical liquid levels. These mechanisms ensure both operational safety and analytical reliability, safeguarding users and samples alike. Please note that this model does not feature automatic reagent level detection, so manual verification is required before each analysis batch.
Cooling water consumption is limited to 1.5 L/min, which helps reduce operational costs and environmental impact. The system also lacks an automatic drainage function, meaning that waste management must be performed manually at the end of each cycle. However, the straightforward cleaning process and durable components make this task simple and low-maintenance.
Compact in design (490 × 380 × 725 mm) and weighing 35 kg, the AKN-01 easily fits on any laboratory bench while ensuring user-friendly handling and stable performance.
Additionally, the device can be used for other analytical purposes such as the detection of ammonium salts, volatile acids or alkalis, and the determination of soil cation exchange capacity—further enhancing its versatility for laboratories with broad analytical needs.
