Thermo Scientific Series 8000 Model 3429 – Water Jacket CO₂ Incubator
The Thermo Scientific Series 8000 Model 3429 is a water-jacketed CO₂ incubator specially designed to meet the critical needs of laboratories for cell culture. Its triple-wall system and large water volume ensure exceptional thermal stability, limiting temperature variations even during power outages. This performance is essential for preserving the integrity and viability of cultures, particularly during delicate handling or prolonged experiments.
The unit incorporates a HEPA filtration system positioned inside the chamber, continuously filtering the air to remove potentially contaminating particles and microorganisms. ISO Class 5 air quality is achieved within five minutes of closing the door, significantly reducing the risk of culture loss and the time required for recovery.
Stability, performance and safety
The incubator's design facilitates precise control of culture parameters. The temperature is regulated with an accuracy of ±0.1°C, while thermal uniformity at 37°C is maintained at ±0.2°C. The Model 3429 accepts a temperature range from 5 °C above ambient temperature up to 55 °C, with relative humidity up to 95%. CO₂ sensors, available in T/C technology, guarantee control better than ±0.1%, providing ideal conditions for cell growth.
The intuitive control panel allows for easy configuration of temperature, CO₂, and monitoring alarms. Built-in reminders notify the user when the HEPA filter needs to be replaced, and remote alarm contacts facilitate continuous monitoring of the unit. Maintenance is simplified thanks to tool-free removable components, including polished stainless steel shelves and brackets, the HEPA filter and fan elements.
A reliable and easy-to-maintain growing environment
The Model 3429 has been designed to minimise contamination risks while reducing cleaning time. Its stainless steel interior chamber with rounded corners, combined with a heated double-glazed inner door, limits condensation and facilitates visual access to cultures. The removable and washable door seal design allows for quick and efficient maintenance.
In the event of a power failure, heat retention is remarkable: tests have shown an initial drop of only 1°C per hour and 7.6°C after 10 hours, ensuring prolonged protection of crops. This feature, combined with rapid temperature recovery, enhances the reliability of the unit in critical environments.
