Servo Ventilator 300A – Intelligent, personalised ventilation control
The Siemens Servo Ventilator 300A is a highly advanced intensive care ventilator designed to provide precise, flexible and safe assisted ventilation for all types of patients, from newborns to adults. Thanks to its modular architecture and microprocessor control, the Servo 300A covers a wide range of ventilation modes, including volume control, pressure control, pressure support, SIMV, as well as modes such as Automode and biphasic ventilation.
The system consists of two main units:the control unit, with its display panel, and the patient unit, which integrates the pneumatic and power supply sections. These units are interconnected and designed for easy access to internal components, facilitating maintenance and service. The control unit contains several specialised electronic cards – user interface, monitoring, computer interface, inspiratory control – which coordinate the signal processing, monitoring and user interface functions.
Ventilation regulation is based on a closed-loop control system using PID controllers for inspiratory and expiratory pressures and for flow. This mechanism ensures a rapid and adaptive response to changes in the patient's lung parameters. Inspiration is controlled by specific gas valves for air and oxygen, which allow precise mixing, while the expiratory phase is managed by an electronically regulated PEEP valve.
The Servo 300A also offers increased safety thanks to its mechanical safety valves, internal backup battery (30 minutes of autonomy), and numerous bacteria-protected sensors. Alarms are prioritised and clearly displayed, with anaudible and visual interface and an automatic test function at start-up.
It includes a serial communication module (RS-232) for connection to clinical information systems and data exchange (trends, ventilation parameters, alarms). The front panel features dedicated controls for patient selection (adult, paediatric, neonatal), pressure, volume and frequency adjustment, as well as alarm and oxygen supply management.
The Servo 300A has a robust structure, with scheduled maintenance at 1,000 and 3,000 hours, ensuring increased component longevity. Thanks to its upgradeable design, this ventilator can be updated with additional modules such as the Servo Ultra Nebulizer 345 or a NO module. It complies with the European Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC and is a reliable, adaptable and comprehensive ventilation solution for critical care environments.
