SimpliAmp Thermal Cycler: thermal accuracy and simplified control for PCR
The SimpliAmp Thermal Cycler from Thermo Fisher Scientific is a laboratory device designed for researchers who want to perform PCR reactions with reliability, flexibility and ease of use. This thermal cycler stands out for its compact design and user-friendliness, making it suitable for both routine research environments and work requiring protocol adjustments. It is equipped with an 8-inch TFT colour touchscreen, which allows for simple and clear programming of thermal cycles, making the device particularly accessible even to inexperienced users.
One of the key features of the SimpliAmp is the integration of VeriFlex™ technology, which offers three independent temperature zones within a 96-well block in 0.2 mL format. This feature allows multiple temperature optimisations to be performed simultaneously in the same experiment without compromising thermal accuracy. With an accuracy of ±0.25°C between 35 and 99.9°C and uniformity of less than 0.5°C after 30 seconds at 95°C, the SimpliAmp guarantees reliable thermal conditions, which are essential for successful PCR reactions.
Thermal management is supported by temperature rise and fall rate control , with a maximum capacity of 4°C per second for the block and 3°C per second for samples. The SimpliAmp also allows automatic resumption after a power failure, modification of programmes during operation, and protection against overwriting existing programmes. It also offers a one-touch incubation mode, which is convenient for routine tasks.
In terms of connectivity, the SimpliAmp is compatible with the Instrument Connect app via Ethernet or WiFi, offering the ability to remotely monitor thermal cycles, schedule experiments and share protocols. It has 2,000 MB of internal memory and can store more than 1,000 protocols, with the additional option of using a USB stick to import or export data.
Thanks to its compact size (21 x 24 x 46 cm) and moderate weight of 8.3 kg, the SimpliAmp fits easily into any laboratory. It operates on a universal 100–240 V power supply and consumes a maximum of 600 W, making it compatible with most electrical installations.
The SimpliAmp Thermal Cycler is a great choice for labs looking for a reliable, flexible, and easy-to-use PCR device with thermal accuracy that meets the demands of today's molecular research.
