Sogevac SV40 BI oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pump – Reliable performance for your industrial applications
The Sogevac SV40 BI is a single-stage rotary vane vacuum pump designed by Leybold to offer optimum performance in pumping inert gases. It operates in a range from atmospheric pressure to a limit pressure of 0.25 mbar, making this pump particularly suitable for applications requiring a constant and controlled vacuum, while ensuring excellent operational reliability.
The heart of the system is an eccentric rotor mounted inside a stator, in which three vanes slide. These elements create compression chambers whose volume varies with each rotation. Oil plays a central role in this process: injected into the suction chamber, it provides sealing, lubrication and cooling. Once the compressed gases have been evacuated, the oil is separated in the crankcase and then recycled by a float valve that prevents any air from rising to atmospheric pressure.
The pump is equipped with an air ballast device to enable the pumping of condensable vapours. This ballast can be opened when the nature of the gas is uncertain, or when condensation in the pump is possible, particularly when handling solvents. An integrated non-return valve effectively prevents any oil from returning to the vacuum system when the pump is stopped, provided that this valve is kept clean.
With an effective flow rate of over 35 m³/h at 2 mbar, the SV40 BI ensures consistent performance, even during prolonged use. Its 1.6 kW motor at 50 Hz (1.9 kW at 60 Hz) is protected by IP 55 class F insulation, ensuring good thermal behaviour in industrial environments.
Maintenance is simplified thanks to easy oil level monitoring, reasonable service intervals and the availability of dedicated maintenance kits. It is a reliable choice for users who want to combine safety, efficiency and robustness in their vacuum system.
